Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN (JOCK) BURNS MACKIE John (Jock) Burns Mackie W.O.II retired, beloved husband of Mrs. Margaret Mackie of Calgary, passed away at the Agape Hospice on November 24, 2001 after a lengthy illness at the age of 83 years. John was born in Winnipeg and he served with the P.P.C.L.I. First Battalion from 1938 to 1964. He served in the Second World War and with the United Nations in Korea as well as NATO Forces in Germany. After retiring from the military, he worked as a supervisor for Public Press in Winnipeg. In 1941 John and Margaret were married in Scotland and celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary in June, 2001. John is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Anne and Jim Quesnel of Calgary, along with two granddaughters, Andrea and Melanie. He is also survived by one niece Donna and her husband Don Shaw of Vancouver; three nephews, Tom and his wife Doreen Mackie of Winnipeg, David Mackie of Thompson, MB, Ken and his wife Diane Smith of Kelowna. John was predeceased by his brother Tom and his sister Agnes. Funeral services will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 400 Midpark Blvd. S.E., Calgary, on Wednesday, November 28 at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Cruikshank officiating.
