JOSEPH TWARDOWSKI It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Joseph Twardowski on Saturday, November 24, 2001 at the age of 85, at Holy Family Nursing Home. Joseph leaves to mourn his companion and loving friend Anne Budzinski; daughter Judith and husband Vincent of Vancouver, B.C.; son Kenneth and wife Nina; grandchildren, Jason and Carlee. Joseph was predeceased by his wife of 39 years, Aileen; grandson Shawn; sister Katie and husband Mike Jasnikowski. Joe was born and raised in Winnipeg and went to work for C.N. Railway in 1938. Later, in 1942, he joined the Royal Canadian Army Engineers and stayed there until he was discharged in 1946. He was also with the reserve army for six years. He returned to C.N. and worked as a stationary engineer, then, after 43 years of service, he finally retired in 1981. Joe loved attending meetings and belonging to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #246, where he and Anne spent much of their time. He was also proud to be a Sergeant of Arms until he suffered a stroke in 1991. Since that time he has resided first at Seven Oaks Hospital for 18 months and for the last eight and one half years at Holy Family Nursing Home. At this time, the family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff at Holy Family Nursing Home on the 3rd floor for their patience and kindness. Prayers will be held on Wednesday, November 28 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, November 29 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Marys Polish National Catholic Church, 361 Burrows Ave. with Very Rev. Msgr. W. Cwieka officiating. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
