FRANK STESKI Peacefully, on Sunday, November 25, 2001 Frank Steski passed away at the St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit at the age of 82 years. He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 51 years, Grace; his sons, Norm (Randi) and Garry (Judy) of Winnipeg, and Glenn of Richmond, BC; grandchildren, Robyn (Mark), Bryan and Randi of Richmond, BC, Jared and Cailin of Winnipeg, Tammy Steinhubl of Winnipeg; and great-granddaughter Taylor Grace of Richmond, BC. He also leaves to mourn his brothers, Rudy (Fran) of North Bay, ON, Louis of Winnipeg; and sisters, Minnie and Rose Steski and Helen (Ray) Oates; his sisters-in-law, Elaine and Carrie Steski and Edie Morgan of Winnipeg; brothers-in-law, Clarence (Clara) Hemming of Delta, BC, Stan (Ruth) Hemming, Frank (Marg) Hemming, all from Winnipeg; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Lena; his brothers, Vic and Gerry; sister-in-law Bea Solarz; and brothers-in-law, John Solarz and Ernie Morgan. Frank was born and raised in Bradwardine, MB, 50 kms. northwest of Brandon. He served proudly in the Navy and Combined Ops. overseas during the Second World War. After the war he joined Domtar Packaging where he worked until retiring in 1983 as the assistant plant manager. Frank was an avid curler throughout his lifetime, much of it at the Grain Exchange Curling Club where he was a past president, and was awarded a lifetime membership. One of his proudest accomplishments was recording an eight ender. During the summer months and on numerous winter vacations, he and his wife Grace travelled to the Las Vega area where he enjoyed countless hours on the golf course, achieving a hole-in-one on three separate occasions. The family would like to send a special thanks to Edie and Frankie for their constant support. They would also like to thank the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital ward 6A and a special thanks to the staff at the Palliative Care Unit. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (south of the Royal Canadian Mint) on Thursday, November 29 at 10:00 a.m. A private interment to follow at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the reception centre. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit, 409 Tache Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2H 9Z9, or to a charity of choice.
