SYLVESTER SLYMKEVICH It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Sylvester Slymkevich, on Tuesday, November 27, 2001, at his residence at the age of 73 years. He is survived by his brother Emil (Betty) nieces and nephews, Tom (Barb), Les and his daughter Brooklyn, Kelly and his son Tyson, Joanne (Harold), Barb (Kevin) as well as many relatives and friends. Sylvester was predeceased by parents Walter and Mary, a brother Gerry and his sister-in-law Elsie. Sylvester was born April 22, 1928, and was raised near Elma. After working on the family farm he left to work for CN. He later made his home near Hadashville and worked in the bush most of his life, fighting forest fires with his dozer and making numerous bush roads in the southeast. Even later in life Sylvester enjoyed working in the bushhe was a true "outdoorsman." Those who knew of him knew his kindness, and he was always willing to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed going to the local coffee shop and always had a story to tell. Being outside is where he was most comfortable, whether it was hunting, fishing or tending to his vegetable garden. The family wishes to acknowledge the Falcon Lake RCMP for their effort and to express their sincere appreciation to concerned neighbours and friends who dropped by to visit him. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 1 at 10:30 a.m. from Russell Funeral Homes, Beausejour, MB, with Fr. Owen Steeves officiating. Interment will be in the family plot at the Birch River Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to a charity of ones choice.
