IDA MARGUERITE MILLER Peacefully, after a brief illness, Marguerite Miller passed away on Wednesday, November 28, 2001 at the Health Sciences Centre. She was predeceased by her parents, Ray and Blanche Miller of Starbuck; sisters-in-law, Lillian and Betty. Left to cherish her memory are brothers, Leonard, Gilbert, Alvin, Claire and their families. After her childhood in Starbuck, Marguerite taught at Newton Siding and Birds Hill, then took Deaconess training and worked with Home Mission Board of the United Church at the Indian Residential School at Norway House and Portage la Prairie. She then attended United College where she continued the pursuit of her Theology degree along the way touching the lives of many people in various communities through teaching and her ministry. She was ordained in June of 1949 and her first charge was Kenville, MB including Harlington and Durban. Following service at Kenville she was called to Foxwarren, subsequent to that she served Murray United Church, High Bluff in Portage Presbytery. In June of 1979, Marguerite accepted a call to Hartney, Dand and Lauder where she served until retirement. After retirement she continued to be active in the community and the church, serving on many committees and maintaining contact with her many friends in the churches where she had served. In recognition of her ministry and her many contributions to the lives of her parishioners the University of Winnipeg honoured her with the Degree of Doctor of Divinity at Convocation in 1977. Her family was a very important part of her life and she was a very special part of the lives of all her family. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 3 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Starbuck, MB. Rev. Peter Mitchell and Pastor Ron Vert will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Starbuck United Church or a charity of choice. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
