PETER PINGATORE 1919 - 2001 It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Peter, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, on Thursday, November 29, 2001 at the Victoria Hospital. He will be fondly remembered by his loving wife Gladys, son Peter (Brenda) Pingatore, daughters, Opal (Dennis) Pollard and Gail Matheson; sister Letitia Albrecht; grandchildren, Kristin and Dayna Pingatore, Terry (Wendy), Lynn (Laurie) Matheson, Roberta (Paul) Frederick, Darren Pollard, and Kathleen (Richard) Muntain; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and special friends. He was predeceased by sisters, Angela, Edith, Elsie, and Mary; brother Tony; and son-in-law John Matheson. Peter was born July 9, 1919 in Transcona. He was employed by the CNR, which he returned to, after his service with the RCAF 418 Squadron. Petie the postman worked for Canada Post from 1958 - 1982, until his retirement. He was a member of the Transcona Legion Branch #7 for 50 plus years. Peter loved music, you could find him singing or whistling when the occasion arose. In the summer months he would be in the back yard working on his lawn ornaments with great pride. His most pleasurable time was spent with family and playing with the grandchildren. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Concordia Hospital Emergency staff and the Victoria Hospital Intensive Care Unit. Prayers will be held Sunday evening, December 2 at 6:00 p.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St. Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, December 3 at the Transcona Memorial United Church, 209 Yale Ave. W. with Rev. Carol Fletcher officiating. Interment to follow at the Transcona Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Peters memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3B 2H8 or to the Transcona Memorial United Church Memorial Fund. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
