Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBEN CHAIKIN Ben Chaikin, born March 15, 1912, passed away on November 30, 2001 at the age of 89 years. His parents, Malka and Mendel, sisters Clara and Thelma, and his brother, Osher, predeceased him. He leaves to mourn his wife of 59 years, Marion, his daughters, Darlene Davis (Jerry) and Elaine Nelson (Randall) and grandchildren, Marci Pauls (Rodney), Myles Davis, Mitchell and Stuart Nelson and his sister, Mavis Rabkin (Mayer). Ben came to Canada in 1919, with his family, who settled in Saskatchewan, and later moved to Grandview, Manitoba. After serving overseas in The Second World War, he returned to Grandview with his wife, where they raised their family and remained until 1980. Ben operated a general store and ran his business as he ran his life; with honesty, dignity, and respect, touching the lives of everyone he met. Upon retiring, he moved to Winnipeg, and worked part time at the Bay and Big Four. A long time, active member of the legion and Masons, he gave of himself in so many ways and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A special thanks to the staff of the Sharon Home and the 5th floor nursing staff at the Seven Oaks Hospital for their extraordinary care. Funeral services were held at Rosh Pina Synagogue on Sunday, December 2. Pallbearers were Jerry Davis, Randall Nelson, Myles Davis, Philip Baker, Robert Stern and Jack Rabkin.
