EVALINE VICTORIA YATES (nee MAJURY) It is with deep sadness the family announces the passing of Evaline Victoria Yates (nee Majury) who passed away suddenly on November 29, 2001 at the Peace Arch Hospital in White Rock, BC with her family by her side. Left to mourn her passing are her two children, son Wilmer (Valerie) and daughter Darlene (Jim) her five grandchildren, Brenda (Joe), Cathy (Herb), Tracy (John), Kelley (David), and Jaime-Lyn (Benj) sister-in-law Mabel Yates; eight great-grandchildren, Brendan, Dillan Alexander, Mason, Evan, Jesse-Rae, Shelby, and Zachery; her nieces and nephews, and a multitude of cherished friends. Evaline was predeceased by her loving husband of 53 years, Arthur Yates; her parents, Alice and Jack Majury; her brothers, Murray, Elmer, Cecil, Leslie, Elgin, and sister Hazel. Evaline was born and raised in riding Mountain, MB, where she also went to school and met the love of her life, Arthur. They moved to Winnipeg where they married and raised their children. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother in every aspect. She gave completely of herself to her family with unconditional love and encouragement without judging, rather known for her forgiveness saying "behind everyones actions is a reason". Her door was always open to everyone, just to chat with or to offer a positive word of encouragement and guidance for those of us who looked to her for wisdom. For every problem or question, she had an answer. With an unparalleled understanding, there will never be another person like her to provide such insightful guidance to our lives. Evaline had a wonderful sense of humour and a love for laughing and telling jokes, which made it almost impossible to tell her a joke she never heard before. She was known for her infectious laugh, as well as the twinkle in her eye and her tender ways. She had a deep love for children whom she always made time for - with games, colouring books, and toys that she always had on hand in her home "just in case". She was a strong woman committed to her family and friends who relied on her guidance, her values, and her wisdom, which made her the truly amazing woman she was. All who knew her will find comfort in the fact that their lives were made richer by knowing her. A memorial service will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., on Thursday, December 6, at 3:00 p.m. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the Chapel Lawn Reception Centre. Honorary pallbearers are, Herb Peterson, David Newstead, John Douglas, Benj Hugh, Joe Doyle, and Jim Graham. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation is made in Evalines name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3B 2H8. "We lost a mother with a heart of gold Who was more to us than wealth untold without farewell she fell asleep With only memories for us to keep We have lost, but God has gained One of the best mothers the world contained Her heart was the truest in all the world Her love the best to recall For none of earth can take her place She is still the dearest mom of all If she could have spoken before she died, These are the words she would have replied This life for me has truly passed Ive loved you to the very last Weep not for me But courage take And love each other For my sake." WE LOVE YOU Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
