After the war mom and dad moved to Winnipeg where they started Salkelds Turkey Hatchery on Logan Avenue. They moved to Stonewall in 1959 from Cambridge Street and lived on the farm until the present time. Mom was a very hard dedicated and caring person, who loved her family and friends. From an early age she took on life with a very positive attitude which is instilled in all of us. She was very creative and artistic and excelled in this. Over the years all family and friends were blessed with a piece of her work. In her final years Moms illness took her to many schools to lecture the children about the hazards of smoking. From these efforts she received many letters and phone calls from children she had reached. She was so proud of this!! The family would like to thank "the girls" Marlene and Gail, Ed and Joyce Madden, Lise and all her home care workers for going that extra mile. Thank you to Dr. Kanji, Dianne Ammeter and the wonderful nursing staff of Stonewall District Hospital for their kindness and compassion. Mom was a long time member of the Stonewall Legion and we would like to thank all the members for their kindness shown to her. Viewing will be held on Saturday, December 1, between 7:00-9:00 p.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel Stonewall. If friends so desire a donation would be greatly appreciated to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3A 1P6. God saw her getting tired And a cure was not to be, So he put his arms around her And whispered "Come to me". With tearful eyes we watched her suffer And saw her fade away. Although we loved her dearly, We could not make her stay. A golden heart stopped beating, Hard working hands at rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.

Hi to all of Henrietta’s family! My mom, Alice McKinnon and Henrietta were best friends for years! They were ceramic buddies and I remember them making plaster paris moulds in our garage on Oakenwald Ave. in Fort Garry! We all went to the new home at Stonewall and got a taste of country life there. Robert and Donald were young then and their big sister Elaine was there too. Sweet memories of your family and I hope everyone is healthy. I would love to talk to Elaine! Rest In Peace ... Karla - Posted by: Karla McKinnon Burron (Mom and Henrietta friends) on: Apr 07, 2021
