Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTOMMY BUICK It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Tommy Buick, on November 29, 2001, beloved husband to Joan and devoted father to daughters, Beverlee Hummel (Carl), and Gayle Hercina (Greg) son Rod, Gigi to Ainslee Trudeau and Scott Bachman, Joshua, Jordan, and Quin Hercina; and great-gigi to Shey and Ashtyn Trudeau. Tommy was predeceased by his parents John and Anna; his brother Henry; and sister Mary Kalinsky. Tommy was born in Winnipeg on July 18, 1923, and was raised in Valley River, MB. He moved to Winnipeg when he was 14 years of age and attended King Edward School. He married Joan in 1943 and would have celebrated 58 years of marriage on December 18, 2001. Tommys first love was his violin and the music he composed and played. He was a self-taught musician and had several bands, including the Red River Valley Boys. He is celebrated throughout Canada for his unique style of playing the violin and the heart and soul he put into his music. Tommys music is still played on radio stations today and he will always be remembered as an extraordinary musician and composer. To have heard Tommy play a "Ukrainian Wedding Presentation", was a profound experience. Tommy also worked as an optician for 25 years in Winnipeg. Tommy suffered with Rheumatoid Arthritis the last four years and although he couldnt play his violin, he kept it by his side as a reminder of the music he loved to play. Tommy was also an avid golfer and champion bowler. His wisdom and guidance to his children will be missed but his words will be remembered forever. He was a great musician, good friend, wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and we will all miss him so much. You were my first and only love, always, your Joanie In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Autism Society of Manitoba in his memory. Memorial service will be held on Monday, December 3, at 12:30 p.m. at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
