Simone was predeceased by her father Remi Soenens in 1981, and her mother Marguerite Soenens on November 8, 2001. Simone was born in Saint-Boniface on June 14, 1944. She received her education at lAcademie Saint-Joseph and completed her nurses training at Saint-Boniface General Hospital. She worked at the Winnipeg Clinic for eight years and later moved to Saint-Norbert where she was employed by the Saint-Norbert Nursing Home for 27 years, until her recent retirement. Simone will always be remembered for her generosity, her kind and encouraging words, and her love of children. She was known as "Tante Simone" to many.
