GEORGE ROTH Passed away peacefully on Friday, November 30, 2001 after a brief illness at the age of 80. As a young boy George immigrated to Canada with his parents, John and Theresa and his sister Margaret. He grew up and spent his life in North Winnipeg. When he returned from service in the Navy following the Second World War he met and married his life long partner of 54 years Eleanor. Together they raised four daughters and six grandchildren, Linda, Marge (Jack), Jennifer and Allison Cohen, Roslyn (Howard), Jessica and Zachary Mandell, Melissa (Rick), Travis and Dylan Bellmore. He is also survived by his sister Margaret (Anthony) Kettler; nephews, Tony and Jack and their families. George worked as sales and advertising manager at A & M Hurtig Furriers for 55 years until the store closed and he retired. George will be remembered in the downtown business world as always being smartly dressed in the showroom chatting with his clientele. George was an avid sports fan all his life. He recently celebrated 50 years of bowling at St. Josephs Mens Friday Night League and he golfed regularly until this summer. In recent years George enjoyed mentoring his grandsons, Travis and Dylan in golf as well as attending their hockey and football games. George was proud to see his granddaughters, Jennifer and Allison graduate from University and was supportive of their academic accomplishments. George and Eleanor enjoyed travelling and have visited Europe, Asia, Mexico and the U.S.A. on various tours as well as several cruises. Since their daughter Roslyn moved to South Carolina 10 years ago George and Eleanor have often visited and spent happy times with the youngest grandchildren, Jessica and Zachary. His family celebrates shared memories of a man beloved as husband, father and grandfather. Thanks to the staff of Seven Oaks Hospital 5 Unit 3 who were most loving and supportive. Special thanks to Dr. P. Patel for his expertise and care. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 7, at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Dont think of him as gone away His journeys just begun Life holds so many facets This earth is only one Just think of him as resting From the sorrows and the tears In a place of warmth and comfort Where there are no days and years Think of him as living In the hearts of those he touched For nothing loved is ever lost And he was loved so much CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
