Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySISTER MARCELLA MARY WYNNYK, SSMI 1906 - 2001 Sister Marcella Mary Wynnyk died on Saturday, December 1, 2001, in Holy Family Nursing Home, Winnipeg, MB. Sister Marcella (Mary) was born on August 02, 1906, in Kopernick, AB, daughter of Roman and Eva (Lyshak). She entered the novitiate of the Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate in Mundare, AB on July 14, 1924. She made first profession of vows on July 28, 1926, and final profession, July 28, 1932. In her 77 years as a Sister Servant, Sister Marcella generously served her church and people. She served at the following Sister Servant missions: St. Nicholas School, Winnipeg; Windsor, Montreal, Ituna, Yorkton, Prince Albert, Vegreville, Mundare, Edmonton, and in Pennsylvania in Shamokin and Minnersville. She taught in Catholic Elementary Schools for 45 years, mainly grade one, and catechism in rural parishes in Alberta during the summer months for over thirty years. After superannuating from teaching, she continued to serve, assisting in domestic works at Bethany Home in Winnipeg. Sister Marcella was local superior at the following missions: Minersville and Shamokin in Pennsylvania and in Winnipeg. Sister Marcella graciously accepted the sufferings of age and infirmity and cheered up all who visited her with her humourous remarks. She often expressed her gratitude to the Lord for His many blessings and to those who ministered to her and visited her. She kept in touch with her family, supporting them with her prayers and kind words. Sister Marcella was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Father Ambrose OSBM, John and Peter and sisters, Anne and Nancy. She is survived by her sister Pearl Hladilo of Holden, AB; nephew Father Cyril Mykytiuk OSBM of Ottawa, ON and nephews, Julian and Joseph Wynnyk of Edmonton with their families. Prayers will be sung at Bethany Home Chapel at 131 Aberdeen Ave. on Tuesday, December 4 at 7:00 p.m. The funeral Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at Bethany Home chapel on Wednesday, December 5 at 10:00 a.m. Father Yaroslaw Dybka, C.Ss.R. will be the celebrant. Interment will follow at Holy Family Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Winnipeg.
