Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARIA AUXILADIRA MEDERIOUS SALGADHINO TAVARES With much heart felt sadness we announce the passing of Maria Auxiladira Mederious Salgadhino Tavares on December 1, 2001 at the Health Sciences Centre. After a long and lengthy illness she peacefully left this world for a better place, with her children and friends by her side. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered be her daughter Fatima and son Emanuel of Winnipeg; her son Paul and wife Betty and grandson Sanchez of Thunder Bay, ON; and husband of Juliao of Dryden, ON; Maria Lourdes Algarvio and family; Carmelia Rombeiro and family of Brampton, ON; and brother Jose Louise Salgadhino and family of Three Rivers, MA. She is predeceased by her infant son Paul-George; her special brother-in-law Edgar Rombeiro; mother Marie Lourdes; father Jose Salgadhino and sister Eduarda all of Ponta Delgada, Sao Miguel. She will also be remembered by her many friends, close neighbours, home care workers and all staff at the Sherbrook Dialysis Centre that assisted and cared for her. Maria was born on October 17, 1932 in Ponta Delgada, Sao Miguel Acores. She immigrated to Canada in 1961 and lived in Dryden until her illness required her to move to Winnipeg in 1984. A devoted mother and wife, Maria lived for her family and children. She was the most unselfish and loving person. In spite of the hardships of her illness she was always putting the familys needs ahead of her own. She was a deeply religious and devout Catholic that prayed her rosary endlessly to her final days. She was a talented seamstress and embroiderer in her younger years and enjoyed sewing for family and friends. Her homemaking skills were unsurpassed and God forgive you if you walked in her home with your shoes on. Her commitments to family morals and values were her lifes work. We will miss her greatly, her strength of spirit, her courage to face lifes difficulties, but most of all we will miss her love and devotion. Maria, Maria, Maria, you will be in our hearts forever. Listen to this secret truth: we shall not all die, but when the last trumpet sounds, we shall all be changed in an instant, as quickly as the blinking of an eye. For when the trumpet sounds, the dead will be raised, never to die again, and we shall all be changed. (1 Corinthians 15: 51-52) Prayers will be held on Monday, December 3 at 7:30, St. Ignatuis Church, 255 Stafford St., at Corydon Avenue. Funeral mass will be celebrated at the church the following morning, December 4 at 9:30 a.m. Interment will take place in Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave., following the mass.
