PETER ROBERT WARKENTIN God saw you getting tired And a cure was not to be So He wrapped you in His loving arms And whispered "Come with Me" You suffered much in silence Your spirit did not bend You faced your pain with courage Until the very end You tried so hard to stay with us Your fight was all in vain God took you to His loving home And freed you from all pain. Courageously with grace and dignity at the age of 63 years, Bob passed away November 30, 2001, with his loving family at his side. Survived by his loving wife Judy; son Rob and Christine; son Ken and Alda; grandson Matthew; granddaughter Taylor; brothers, Victor, Ernie, Harry, all of Winnipeg; and sister Liz of the Netherlands. Bob was predeceased by his father Peter in 1986, mother Anna in 1996, and sister Shirley Fisher in 1992. Bob was born, raised and educated in Winnipeg, MB. He worked his entire career in the insurance industry, becoming Vice President of Marketing for a large North American insurance corporation. In 1982, Bob founded his own diversified insurance brokerage and consulting practice, Oakin Companies, in Oakville, ON, and in which members of his family were employed. Bob was a highly respected insurance consultant and was sought after for his advice and counsel by companies across North America. Bob was an active outdoorsman, and especially enjoyed goose hunting in the fall with his buddies of many years, in southern Manitoba. He was also active with Ducks Unlimited for many years serving as a Director. Bob was a giving person, who will always be remembered for his wit and humour up until the very end. He touched the hearts of all who knew him, and he will be sadly missed. There are so many to thank. Bob was overwhelmed with all of you that were there for him. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 4 at Ward Funeral Home, 109 Reynolds St., Oakville, ON, (905) 844-3221. Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the Canadian Cancer Society.
