Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNA SIEMENS (FRIESEN) Anna Siemens, aged 96, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2001 at the Grace Hospital. Devoted wife, loving mother and inspiration to all she touched, Annas home for the last 20 years was Bethel Place in Winnipeg where she enjoyed the companionship of many friends. Anna was predeceased by her parents, Jacob L. and Maria Friesen of Gretna, MB; by eight of her 12 siblings; by her husband of 40 years, Jacob Derk (J.D.) Siemens; and by one great-granddaughter Kendell Aileen Sobering. Left to cherish her memory are her three children, Esther (Fred Sobering) of Oskaloosa, KS, Arlene (Roy Dick) of Altona, Bob Siemens (Lynne) of Winnipeg; eight grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Alvina Giesbrecht and Henrietta (Keith Watts) by two brothers, Henry and Rhinehart (Eira) Friesen; and by many nieces and nephews. Anna was born on October 1, 1905 in Gretna, MB where she married J.D. Siemens in 1928. They spent many rewarding years teaching in Edenthal, Haskett, Gretna (MCI), Altona, Winnipeg, and Riverton. She was deeply devoted to her faith and instrumental in the planning of Bethel Place where she enjoyed, for more than 20 years, living with her extended family. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 5 at Bethel Mennonite Church, 870 Carter at Stafford, Winnipeg. Rev. David Epp-Stobbe will officiate. The family wishes to thank the many friends who comforted Anna at the hospital and left us with messages of how she touched their lives. The family also wishes to thank Annas friend and physician, Dr. Sheila Domke, and the staff of the Grace Hospital. Interment will be at Chapel Lawn Cemetery, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Mennonite Central Committee, 134 Plaza Dr., Winnipeg.
