CLIFFORD ALLEN GRIER Clifford Allen Grier, our husband, dad and grandpa died unexpectedly crossing a lake that he loved, in the company of friends that he loved on Saturday, December 1, 2001. Born on August 24, 1936, Cliff is survived by his wife Sonya of 42 years; daughters, Donna, Bev (Dave) grandchildren, Lisa, Kaylie and Keelan; son-in-law Jim (Sandra) granddaughters, Danielle and Bailey; brother Louis; sisters, Shirley (Art) Philp; Ada (Bill) Tinkess; sisters-in-law, Edna, Joyce, Gert, Audrey; extended family members, countless friends and fellow outdoorsmen. Cliff was predeceased by his daughter Lisa in 1992, his parents, four brothers, one sister and one sister-in-law. He had a quiet and unassuming manner but what he believed was always clear. He loved the soil, the outdoors, playing Hand and Foot Canasta with their friends, a good argument and "all of us". Cliff enjoyed unique woodworking projects, fishing, gardening, music and writing his weekly newspaper column "Footprints In The Snow/Sand". One of Cliffs real passions was hunting big game and every fall he would join his companions at the Purple Pad, Wallace Lake. Our family would like to express our gratitude to Neale Grier, Ray Rybuch and Vic Wazney for their valiant efforts out on the ice that day. Funeral service will take place on Thursday, December 6 at 2:00 p.m. at Greenridge United Church with Rev. Alan Armstrong officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenridge Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rick Grier, Chris Grier, Kent Grier, Tim Osachuk, Ian Hall, Reid Cunningham. Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Smith, Malcolm Spence, Ron Spence, Barry Mankewich, Lorne Derkatch and Bryan McEachern. Donations will be gratefully accepted to the Greenridge United Church Memorial Fund or a Charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to Loewen Funeral Chapel of Steinbach. 204-326-1351.
