Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALICE MATILDA DOLDING (SCALES) 1917 - 2001 Alice Dolding, aged 84 years, passed away peacefully in the com-pany of her daughters, Joyce and Kathy, on Wednesday, December 5, 2001 at the Grace Hospital, following a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Alice Dolding (nee Scales) was born on March 19, 1917 in Darlingford, MB. After spending several years in LaRiviere the family moved to Winnipeg where Mom completed her education at Daniel McIntyre Collegiate and met and married Harold Dolding, on October 25, 1939. Alice will be sadly missed by her children, Joyce (Rod), Glenn (Barbara), Kathy (Shane) her grandchildren, special great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and her beloved cat, Toby. Alice was predeceased by her husband on December 19, 2001, her infant son Robert, her twin sister Ella, her sister Eva, her brother Kenneth, and twin brothers, Lloyd and Stan, as well as her parents, Robert and Florence Scales. Alices essence was love and family. Alice and Harold enjoyed 57 wonderful years of marriage. They loved to spend time with their children, family, their many friends and wonderful neighbours, but most of all they loved to spend time in each others company, sharing the simple pleasures of life. Whether it was cooking, entertaining, travelling, or working in their garden, Alice and Harold loved doing things together. They enjoyed their summers at Spruce Sands for many years. They were fortunate to be able to travel from Nova Scotia to Victoria, BC and throughout Manitoba. They enjoyed their many years of bowling, especially with the Red Alix Bowlers, and their golfing. They were true soul mates and their love and devotion provided a beautiful example to us. Alice was an enthusiastic hostess and eagerly befriended those she met. She was well known for her baking and knitting. She had a terrific sense of humour and loved and could recite poetry and scripture up until her death. Her deep faith in God brought her comfort and peace throughout her life. Alice and Harold raised their children in a neighbourhood full of young families which led to many lasting friendships. Alice enriched our lives immensely and will be terribly missed by all who knew her. Our lives have changed forever but - nothing can take her from us - our love and memories endure and will be kept forever. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 8 at 1:00 p.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1858 Portage Ave., and will be conducted by Major Cath McFarlane. Private interment has taken place at Brookside Cemetery. Mom requested no flowers please, but should friends desire, donations may be made to the Grace General Hospital Foundation, Tree of Life, 300 Booth Dr., Winnipeg, MB R3J 3M7, or the charity of their choice. Many thanks to all of the staff on the Palliative Ward at the Grace Hospital who provided Mom with such care and compassion during her stay. Many thanks to her friend and physician, Dr. R. Albak; and Roseanne, Katherine Cameron and Jutta from Home Care; her special nieces, Joan Herman, Lois Rodgers, Brenda Sneath and Janice Wood and to her many friends and neighbours for their support and kindness to Mom. Im Free Dont grieve for me; for now Im free Im following the path God laid for me. I took His hand when I heard Him call, I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day, to laugh to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way, I found the peace at the close of day. If my parting has left a void, then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, Ah yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My lifes been full, I savoured much, good friends, good times, a loved ones touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, Dont lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your heart and share with me. God wanted me now, He set me free.
