Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRUDOLPH (RUDY) SCHESKE It is with deep regret that we announce the sudden passing of Rudolph (Rudy) Scheske on Wednesday, December 5, 2001 at the Grace Hospital at the age of 85 years. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years of marriage, Agnes of Winnipeg, son Rev. Barrett and wife Mary Jane of Medicine Hat, daughter Kimberly of Kenora, grandsons, Myles of Edmonton, Benjamin and Joshua of Medicine Hat; and sister Elsie Startzel of Dallas, TX; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends who will miss him dearly. He was predeceased by his parents, Frederick and Julianna Scheske; and brothers, Albert, Falden, and Adolph. Rudy was born December 23, 1915 in Grahamdale, MB. This is where he grew up and met and married the love of his life Agnes on April 21, 1946. They resided on the family farm until they purchased the Ashern Hotel in 1953. During this time, Rudy sold seed for McKenzie Seeds and farm implements for Cockshutt. He graduated from auctioneering school, in Mason City, IA in 1958. They sold the hotel in Ashern and moved on to other hotels in different cities, the York Hotel in Swift Current, SK, the Gladstone Hotel in Gladstone, MB, and the Radisson Motel in Atikokan, ON. Dad officially "retired" when they bought a cottage on Lake Winnipeg at Sandy Hook. He really enjoyed his time there. He met his golfing buddy Frank there and tended his huge garden. He also did some part-time managing at the Gimli Hotel. One of Dads passions were his gardens in Sandy Hook and Winnipeg - from which family and friends enjoyed the fruits of his labours. And he loved to golf!! A prayer service and viewing will be held in the Lutheran Church of the Cross, 560 Arlington St., Winnipeg on Sunday evening, December 9 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service to celebrate the life of Rudy Scheske will also be held in the church on Monday, December 10 at 2:00 p.m. His service will terminate in the church and will be followed by a luncheon in the lower hall. A private family interment will be held at a later date. Honorary Pallbearers will be Rev. Harry Ritchie, Bill Karlicki, Alec Malkoske and Frank Grande. Active Pallbearers will be Myles Scheske, Dr. Glenn Scheske, Douglas Scheske, Raymond Scheske, Oscar Gaffar and John Koop. Thanks to the paramedics and emergency personnel at the Grace Hospital.
