Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDICK DAHL Suddenly, on December 5, 2001 while working at home Dick passed away at the age of 76 years. Dick was born in Detroit, MI on June 5, 1925 and moved to Canada as a small child growing up in St James. At the end of high school he joined the R.C.A.F. and became a pilot in the Second World War. Dick met his wife Ruth while in training in 1944 and later married October 19, 1946. After the war he worked in the construction industry learning his skill of carpentry alongside his grandfather. In 1959 Dick started employment for the Manitoba Government working his way to Department Head of Workplace Safety and Health before retiring in 1986 after 27 years of dedicated service. Dick was an avid outdoorsman, and sportsman. He loved camping, boating, snowmobiling, hunting, and fishing. Baseball, golf, curling and hockey were also his passions in life. Many happy times were spent, summer and winter, at Twin Lakes Beach with his family. He also enjoyed his many trips to Frenchmans Lake with his friends. Dicks love of sports was endless. Coaching boys hockey in the winter and girls baseball in the summer while his children were growing up. He played baseball in the Senior League for many years and continued playing Slow Pitch baseball until he was 73 years of age. Dick was very proud of his grandchildren and enjoyed many hours watching his grandchildrens many sporting activities, hockey, soccer and baseball. Dick and Ruth loved to travel and spent many enjoyable trips south in the winter months, spending time with family and friends. Dick will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Ruth; daughter Naomi (Larry) Patey; son Marc (Susan) Dahl; four wonderful grandchildren, Chad, Brad Patey, Charwin and Ashley Dahl. He will also be dearly missed by his sister Audrey (Erv) Senensky of Phoenix, AZ and sadly missed by many other friends and relatives. There will be a celebration of Dicks life on Monday, December 10 at 11:30 a.m. at Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada (Winnipeg Chapter) 400-141 Bannatyne Ave., Winnipeg, MB. R3B 0R3. Remember him with a smile today, he was not one for tears, Reflect instead on memories of all the happy years.
