BARBARA GILLIES (nee Raginski) Entered into eternal rest December 6, 2001 at Tuxedo Villa, after a lengthy illness. Barb was 88 years young and was predeceased by her husband and soul mate George in 1978; parents, Michael and Tekla Raginski; brothers; Stanley, Henry, Walter, and Peter; sisters, Anne and Nellie. She is survived by her loving family, daughter Barbara Ann; grandson Gareth Singery, of Orlando, FL; sister Mary Mychasiw; sister-in-law Donna Johnstone; brothers-in-law, Norm Johnstone and Mac Gillies, as well as the Johnson family; Jim, Marilyn and Jackie, who were extremely supportive and like family to her. Barb was born and grew-up on a farm near Rossburn, MB along with seven brothers and sisters. She attended Ruskaraw a school and at the tender age of 13 years went to work on a neighbouring farm cooking for threshing-gangs, sometimes baking as many as two dozen pies a day. After tying-the-knot with George they lived for several years in Snowflake, MB where they adopted Barbara Ann and then moved to Winnipeg. Barb worked in the Georgian Room at The Bay until her retirement. She was dedicated throughout life to family, home and her well-tended garden. Compliments were aplenty for her fabulous cooking and baking. Cremation will be followed by a celebration of life service at The Sanctuary (231-3499), 610 La Fleche Ave., in St. Boniface (off Provencher) on Sunday, December 16 at 2:00 p.m. She will be laid-to-rest beside her beloved Geordee at the Lenore, MB cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined and a donation to the Manitoba Cancer Society could be made in her memory.
