HARRY CORNELIUS TOEWS 1914 - 2001 Peacefully, on December 5, 2001 at his home, Harry Cornelius Toews, last surviving child of Aganetha and Cornelius Toews, passed away at age 87 years. Dad was predeceased by his 13 brothers and sisters, infant son John and his son-in-law Ed Barchuk. Dad will be sadly missed by his four children, Sharon, Ron (Anne), Gary, Lori (Jim) Wittig; eight grandchildren, Curtis (Julie), Ken, Craig (Ang) Barchuk, Jennifer (Gord) Veri, Karen Toews, Chris, Laura and Kevin Wittig; six great-grandchildren, Samantha, Brian, Mickayla, Parker, Hayley and Colton Barchuk. Dad is also survived by his longtime companion Ollie Campbell. The Toews family moved from Greenland, MB to Transcona in 1952. Dad worked in construction with the City of Winnipeg until his retirement. He enjoyed his gardening and his daily walks. He loved to play cribbage with family and friends. Dad will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends. Funeral service will be held on Monday, December 10 at 1:00 p.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St., with Rev. Jeff Cook officiating. Service to terminate at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, donations in Dads memory may be made to the Association for Community Living, Box 730, Steinbach, MB R0A 2A0, or to a charity of ones choice.
