MARY KOSTACK (SYROTIUK) 1910 - 2001 Peacefully, on Friday, November 30, 2001, Mary passed away at Four Chaplains Convalescent Centre in Westland, Michigan. She leaves to mourn her loving daughter Pat (Don) Canney; beloved grandchildren, Cindi Curran, Michael (Stephanie) Canney, Sheryl (Bob) Neinhaus; cherished great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Christopher, Cheyenne; precious great-great-grandchildren, Zachary, Brandon, Cody, and all her nieces, nephews and inlaws. She was predeceased by her devoted husband Joseph and brother Michael but is survived by her dear sister Kay Malenchak and brother Nicholas Syrotiuk. Mary was born in Winnipeg to Petro and Anna Syrotiuk but moved to Cooks Creek, MB, as a child. After she and Joe were married in 1931, they moved to Detroit, Michigan, where they raised their family and spent the rest of their lives together.Always a wonderful cook and homemaker, Mary was especially talented at handicrafts particularly crocheting. She created many, many beautiful afghans over the years. We will miss her gentle smile and kindness. On Monday, December 3, friends and family were invited to L.J. Griffin Funeral Home, 7707 North Middlebelt Rd., Westland, Michigan, for viewing. Funeral mass was held on Tuesday, December 4 at St. Damian Church with interment at St. Hedwig Cemetery.
