Tony will be very sadly missed by his beloved wife of 51 years, Alexandra; sons, Arthur, Ralph, Eric (Debbie), Brent (Tracey) daughters, Frances (Gary), Germaine (Arlen), Carolynn (Dwayne), Virginia (Ivan) and 31 grandchildren; nine great-grandkids; brothers, Sam, Richard (Elsie), and Donald; sisters-in-law, Mary Jane Cameron, Mary Tukundum Sr., Lena Myran, Teresa Daniels, Elizabeth Mousseau, Frances Monteyne; brothers-in-law, Joe Esquash, George Esquash, and Charlie Monteyne; daughters-in-law, Rachel Esquash, Francine Meeches and Donna McKinney. Tony was born on the Swan Lake First Nation, one of 10 sons to John and Mary Jane (nee McKinney) Cameron. He enjoyed many years of hockey and was well known throughout the sports community. He played hockey for Swan Lake Lakers, Pilot Mound Pilots and Miami Rockets and was extended an invitation to play pro hockey with the New York Rangers and to Moms chagrin also had a stint with boxing in the Middle Weight Class in Manitoba. Dad was a respected member of the community and served as a Councillor, bringing new thoughts, ideas, strong faith and beliefs in the ideas of our Aboriginal Community. Dad was a loving, kind and generous man always willing to help in any way he could. To his family, he was a warm, loving and humourous man who loved his bingo, and in his late years bringing his grouchiness to the game. Dad was always a tried and true fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Dad loved the times when his grandkids were around, they all knew where to get cookies and treats when they went to his house (he always had a stash...just in case). A traditional wake was held Thursday, December 6 at Swan Lake First Nation Community Hall. Funeral services were held Friday, December 7 at 2:00 p.m. at Swan Lake First Nation Community Hall, with Elder Phillip Longclaws officiating. Interment took place at Indian Springs Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Loyd Cameron, Jason Daniels, Maurice Myran, Conway Peters, Ron Acoby, and Don Daniels. Youth pallbearers were Bruce Martin, Dallys Cameron and Patrick McKinney. Honorary pallbearers were all of Tonys hockey pals from Swan Lake, Pilot Mound and Miami.
