RONALD McDONALD LISTER On Saturday, December 8, 2001 Ronald Lister passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 81 years. He is survived by his wife Dorothy of 49 years; his son Donald (Mona) and their children, Jennifer, Jessica and Kevin; his daughter Linda (Frank) Reis and their children, Amanda and Melissa. He is also survived by his brother Robert (Muriel) Lister and family; his sister-in-law Gladys Chutka of Maple Ridge, BC, and family. He was predeceased by his parents Hugh and Emma Lister; and his brother Hugh Lister. Ron was a highly skilled engraver and tool and die maker. He was the successful owner and operator of the R. M. Lister Co. and was President of Graphics Castings Ltd. for many years. Following open heart surgery, he sold his businesses to Diecast Products Ltd. and worked there until his retirement. After his retirement, he worked part-time for Plas-tech Industries and Indutec Alchemist Inc. Ron was a member of the Wildewood Club for many years. He was a competitive badminton player, Chairman of the Junior Badminton and originator of "Wildewood Bridge for Everyone". Ron was former President of the Manitoba Lacrosse Association and received the Sam K. Thompson Memorial Award. He was a member of the Kinsmen Reh-fit Centre which honoured him with the "Certificate of Appreciation" for recognition of faithful volunteer service in conducting badminton clinics. He enjoyed playing snooker with his special friends, loved gardening and followed many sports. Ron was very artistic and received several awards for his paintings from competitions in the city. Ron loved to travel and had many wonderful holidays with his wife and family. During the Second World War, Ron was a Wireless Operator for the Royal Canadian Air Force and served for 42 months. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Fort Garry Branch No. 90. Ron was a member of Home Street United Church and later Maryland United Church. The family wishes to thank the staff of the St. Boniface Hospital who gave Ron special attention, and a sincere thank you to Dr. L. Ebbeling-Treon for all her kindness and care during his long illness. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 12 at 1:00 p.m. in Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway with Rev. Dr. Gordon Taylor of Fort Garry United Church officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bill Baluk, Wayne Brown, Ivan Cross, Stan Eagleton, Brian Lister and Frank Sinclair. Flowers are gratefully declined. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
