MARGARET KITTSON (nee LAWRENCE) Peacefully on Saturday, December 8, 2001, at Oakview Place, at 86 years of age. She was predeceased by her husband Bill Kittson; brothers, Gordon and Evered Lawrence and sister-in law Alice Lawrence. She will be lovingly remembered by her nieces, Leslie Wilson, Linda Pettit and Elaine Nickel; nephew Lyle Lawrence and their families, and her sister-in-law Clare Lawrence. Margaret was born and raised at the family farm in Lilyfield. She attended Lilyfield School and Daniel McIntyre Collegiate before entering nursing at the Winnipeg General Hospital in 1934. Graduating with her R.N., Margaret worked first with the V.O.N. and then at the T. Eaton Co., where she spent a long and fulfilling career as head nurse of the Medical Services. It was a busy and challenging position, as the company had a staff of 6000, which expanded to 9000 for the Christmas season. When vacation time came, Margaret would be off travelling and would return with pictures of her adventures around the world. Margaret retired when she and Bill married in 1977. They shared a wonderful retirement and marriage together until Bills death in 1985. Winters were spent in Arizona or California, and summers in the garden. They both took great pride in the yard and grounds at their home in Rivercrest. Margaret had many friends and loved to entertain. She maintained close contact with her nursing classmates and with fellow Eatonians. When she moved to Rivercrest, Bills neighbours welcomed her warmly and soon it felt like her community too, which she appreciated. Margaret also had a strong sense of family. She kept in touch with relatives across the continent, as well as in England and Scotland, and was always interested in their lives. When ill health forced her to move to Rosewood Village in Winnipeg in 1999, she still enjoyed the visits of family and friends. With further declining health, she moved to Oakview Place this spring. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 12 at 10:30 a.m. at Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway, with interment to follow at Lilyfield Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations in Margarets memory may be made to a charity of your choice. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
