Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGARY LORNE MITCHELL Peacefully with his family at his side, Gary Mitchell passed away on December 8, 2001, at Riverview Health Centre. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Joan; children, Richard, Ryan (Andrea), Natalie (Edward), his pride and joys, Jazlyn and Taylor; his mother Alma; brothers and sisters, Joyce (Darrel), Bev (Danny), Ken (Cindy), Maureen (Tom), Greg (Robynne), Randy (Linda), Odette (Bob), Bill (Joanne), Derek, John; father-in-law Vivian; brother-in-law Lorne; also by Gerald, Cheryl, Kim, Jeff and families; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Bud and nephew John Crossman. Gary was born May 25, 1939. He started working at an early age as a golf caddy and until his illness he had been employed at Coldstream Products for 27 years. He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed bowling, biking, playing cards, golfing and fishing. The greatest joy in his life came from his children and grandchildren, and he never missed a chance to boast about their accomplishments or show off their pictures. "Bampa" loved to take his granddaughters for rides on his scooter. Garys legacy is mirrored in the devotion and support he received from his children, who rallied around him during his roller coaster year. His only wish was not to be a burden to anyone, and found it hard to accept his dependence on others, but still was quick to give "the look," roll his eyes or shake his head. Joan wants to express her heartfelt appreciation to her children for all their love and support, the rest of the family, all the well wishers, visitors, Dr. Wong and his staff at St. Boniface Hospital, Robert and all the home care workers, dedicated nurse and friend Marlene Pomeranski, Dennis St. Laurent, Dr. Kirk, and all the wonderful "family" at 3E Riverview for their care and compassion and Father Morand for all his visits and prayers. Respecting Garys wishes cremation has taken place with a family interment at Moniminto Cemetery. Gary was diagnosed in January 2001 with cancer and overcame incredible obstacles and hurdles, exceeding his and others expectations. Unfortunately he couldnt make it to White Lake to go fishing one final time. His perfect day would be spent at the lake with his family, casting his line at dawn and again at dusk. GONE FISHING Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
