AMANDA SINGBEIL (nee Hastman) January 29, 1908- December 9, 2001 Our sweet gentle Mom passed away peacefully at the age of 93 years on Sunday morning, December 9, 2001 at Donwood Manor, holding her daughter Joans hand in prayer. Amanda and August were married June 29, 1929 and enjoyed 72 years together until his passing at Donwood Manor on August 3, 2001, only four months ago. Lovingly, Mom and Dad raised three children, two sons, Lawrence (Verlie) of Owen Sound, ON, Gary (Barb) of Winnipeg, and one daughter Joan Marie (Gerald) Wensel of Winnipeg. Also left to mourn are eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandson; two brothers George and Emil and one sister Olga, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Maria and Gottlieb Hastman; four brothers, John, Otto, Paul, and Herman and three sisters, Helen, Edith and Ann. Living on the farm, Mom worked with Dad, happily accomplishing a good days work. They were faithful Lutherans and real Keepers of the Faith through all their days. Mom always was our strongest link. When retiring to Beausejour in 1975, Mom kept busy baking Dads favourite cinnamon buns and those delicious cabbage rolls. Dad really enjoyed the Big T.V. screen with Bob Barker after his chores. In 1998, they moved to Donwood Manor Care Home and the wonderful staff gave all the care and affection to MaMa and PaPa. Thanks girls, for all the "extra Hugs"!! Mom; youre with Dad in heaven, holding hands, walking with Jesus!! We love you both - thanks for being the best we had!! Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 12 at 11:00 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church, Gertrude Avenue, Beausejour with Pastor Dale Berg officiating. Friends may view prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Zion Lutheran cemetery. Pallbearers will be her four granddaughters, Shelley, Lori, Janet and Shannon, her godchild (niece) Doreen Typliski (nee Hastman) and her nephew Lawrence Hastman. Following the interment, lunch will be served at the Zion Lutheran church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Donwood Manor, 171 Donwood Drive, Winnipeg, MB, R2G 0V9. REST IN PEACE MOM You can only have one Mother Loving, kind and true. No other friend in all the world Will be as true to you! For all her loving kindness She asked for nothing in return If all the world deserted us To our Mother, we could turn. Our family chain is broken And nothing seems the same But as God calls us one by one Our chain will link again.
