Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCECIL CAIRNS February 18, 1909 - December 8, 2001 With great sorrow we announce that our beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully in his sleep with his family by his side. He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife Noreen; daughter Pat (Earl) Ray; son Bruce (Sandy) and grandchildren, Trevor (Janine), Curtis (Wendy), Jason and Amanda. Born in Flesherton, ON, the eldest of nine children, Cecil was predeceased by his youngest brother Ray. He is survived by sisters, Ethel and Bessie; brothers, Jack (Fran), Ernie (Winnie), Lloyd (Bertha), Elmer (Dorothy), Ross (Inez) and numerous nieces and nephews. Employed by the CNR at the age of 17, Cecil enjoyed a career that spanned 48 years of service. He loved his work and the challenge of settling with his family in various communities across Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan until his retirement in Winnipeg in 1974. His retirement years were filled with his many hobbies as well as curling and golfing with the Fort Rouge Seniors. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 12 at 2:00 p.m. in Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Hwy. No. 1 East at Green Acres Lane, Winnipeg, MB. Interment will follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Cecils memory to the charity of your choice.
