En plus de sa famille religieuse, les Oblats de Marie Immaculee, il laisse dans le deuil son frere Roger, sa soeur Laurette (Robert) Pinard, sa belle-soeur Rolande (Renaud) Godbout, ses neveux Serge, Michel et Christian et sa niece Chantal Godbout, neveux Maurice et Henri-Louis Proulx tous de Quebec; sa cousine, Soeur Sylvia Pinard et une amie speciale Soeur Rose-Aimee Belisle, r.n.d.m. de Regina. Laurent Godbout est ne a St-Camille de Wolfe, PQ le 19 septembre 1919, fils de Berthius Godbout et Alma Dion. Le 1 aout 1940, il prit lhabit chez les Oblats de Marie Immaculee en Lachine, PQ et a ete ordonne pretre le 16 juin 1946 a Richelieu, PQ. De 1947 a 1994, le Pere Godbout a exerce son ministere au Manitoba et en Saskatchewan. Il a ete professeur, prefet de discipline, directeur spirituel, vicaire, cure, delegue au Chapitre, administrateur, Superieur de District, predicateur et Superieur local a la Villa Maria a Saint-Norbert, MB de 1987 a 1996. De 1994 a 1999 il etait semi-retraite et aidait occasionellement dans le ministere. En 2000, il prit sa retraite a la Casa Bonita. Les Oblats de la province du Manitoba ainsi que la famille Godbout desirent exprimer leur sincere reconnaissance envers les membres du personnel de la Casa Bonita, qui ont su entourer le Pere Laurent Godbout de leurs soins et de leur affection et tout specialement Soeur Marie Senecal, csc pour son devouement a Laurent. Un grand merci a Suzanne Delorme et a son equipe a linfirmerie. Une veillee de prieres aura lieu a la Casa Bonita. La messe de la resurrection sera celebree pour le P. Laurent Godbout, o.m.i. en lEglise du Precieux-Sang, 200, rue Kenny, Saint-Boniface, le jeudi 13 decembre a 14h. La depouille mortelle sera exposee a partir de 13h30. Linhumation suivra au cimetiere de Saint-Boniface. FATHER LAURENT GODBOUT, o.m.i. 1919 - 2001 Peacefully, at the Oblate Residence Casa Bonita in St. Boniface, MB, Father Laurent Godbout, o.m.i., died on Saturday, December 8, 2001. He was 82 years old. Born on September 19, 1919, in St. Camille de Wolfe, PQ, Laurent Godbout entered the Oblates of Mary Immaculate on August 1, 1940 in Lachine, PQ. He was ordained to the priesthood on June 16, 1946, in Richelieu, PQ. Between 1947 and 1994, Father Godbout exercised his ministries in Manitoba and Saskatchewan. He was a professor and prefect of discipline at the Holy Family Juniorate in St. Boniface, professor and spiritual director at Gravelbourg College in Gravelbourg, SK, vicar and pastor at Sainte-Rose-du-Lac parish in Manitoba, pastor at Precious Blood Church in St. Boniface, pastor of the parish in Elie, MB, administrator of the parish in Flin Flon, MB, vicar of the parish and its missions in The Pas, MB, Superior of the District in The Pas, MB, and preacher as well as local Superior at the Retreat House Villa Maria in St. Norbert, MB. He joined his fellow oblates in retirement at the Casa Bonita in the year 2000. The Godbout family and the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate wish to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Casa Bonita for their care and affection so freely given to Father Godbout during the time he spent at the Casa. Special thanks to Sister Marie Senecal, csc for her devotion to him over the years and special thanks to Suzanne Delorme and the infirmary staff for their loving care. A prayer vigil will be held at the Casa Bonita. A funeral mass will be celebrated for Father Laurent Godbout, o.m.i., on Thursday, December 13 at 2:00 p.m. at Precious Blood Church, 200 Kenny St., St. Boniface, with viewing beginning at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow in the St. Boniface Cemetery.
