Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySHIRLEY KUEN YEE KONG (nee MARK) Shirley Kuen Yee Kong (nee Mark) was born in Tai Shan County, China, to Wai Sim Mark (deceased) and Nuen Mark (deceased) on January 26, 1941. She was the eldest of nine children who are now living throughout Canada and the United States. At age 13, she moved to Hong Kong in 1954, and at age 25, she married Henry Chun Kau Kong in 1966. Their daughters, Anne Man Chi and Betty Man Ping were born in Hong Kong and the family immigrated to Manitoba in 1969. Their youngest daughter Cindy was born in 1976. Shirley was a wonderful cook, who enjoyed trying out new recipes and perfecting old ones. She and Henry owned a successful family restaurant for 30 years in Grandview and retired to Winnipeg in 1999. She loved her vegetable and flower garden, classical music, and word find puzzles, but her greatest love was her family. Her proudest moments were seeing her daughters graduate from university and celebrating Anne and Craigs marriage. After a courageous battle with her illness, Shirley passed away at St. Boniface Hospital on December 11, 2001, in the company of her family. We wish to express our thanks to Dr. Eliza Chan, Dr. Frances Lim and the doctors and staff at St. Boniface for Shirleys care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Shirleys honour to the Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 455 LAGIMODIERE BLVD. 982-7550
