Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryOLGA STROKON (1919 - 2001) It is with great sadness that the family of Olga Strokon announce her passing at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg on Thursday, December 13, 2001. Olga will be sadly missed by her son Raymond, her relatives and friends for whom her affection was unsurpassed. She was predeceased by her parents Eva (Evdokia) and Peter and two brothers, Michael (Mary) and Walter (Anna, still residing in Canton, MI). Olga was born on January 11, 1919 in Winnipeg, where she grew up in the North End, working at various needle trade dress shops. In 1952 she opened her own business, Rite-Way Cleaners in West Kildonan on Main St. and then in 1964 in St. James-Assiniboia on Portage Avenue and Kirkfield. She satisfied many of her customers with her sincere good work. She then retired and involved herself with her gardening, while able, church activities, the Kn. Olha Branch of the Ukrainian Womens Association of Canada. She enjoyed the Thursday perogy making at her parish of St. Mary the Protectress and anxiously waited for her Wednesday outings at the Fred Douglas Lodge, with the many seniors that she was acquainted with over the many years. In her early years of entrepreneurship she supported junior sports clubs in West Kildonan and with the Vince Leah Memorial night at the Winnipeg Arena. She was a pioneer in the Professional Dry Cleaners and Launderers Guild of Manitoba, where she enjoyed the comradery of its members. On her behalf the family would like to thank the many doctors, nurses, Winnipeg Fire Department Paramedics and friends who helped her through the last five years of her illness with their compassion and support. Prayers will be held on Sunday, December 16 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral service will be held on Monday, December 17 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary the Protectress Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, Burrows and Sinclair with Very Rev. Fr. Jaroslaw Buciora officiating. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Dr. Joe Slogan, Serge Radchuk, Mark Slogan, Steve Hawchuk, Steve Panchuk and Metro Harasemiw. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
