Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOROTHY ELIZABETH BASTIAN Dorothy Elizabeth Bastian, beloved wife of Blair, passed away at her home in Griswold, MB on Thursday, November 29, 2001. Dorothy was born March 17, 1946 at Eatonia, SK. She grew up on a farm in south western Saskatchewan, on the South Saskatchewan River near Leader. Dorothy and her siblings went to a two-room country school until grade seven, then began to ride the bus to Eatonia where she met Blair. As high school sweethearts, they married in 1965. Dorothy worked for the Frontier School Division as a librarian in Mary Duncan School and in the school offices of Scott Bateman and Kelsey Schools. She also accepted a librarian position at Whitemouth School a number of years later when the couple moved to the Whiteshell Provincial Park at Rennie. Dorothys next vocation began in Brandon, MB where she became a sales representative for Century 21. She was a member of the Lionelles Organization and took her turn with pride as the President. Dorothy liked to be out of doors and enjoyed boating, snowmobiling, golfing, softball and gardening. She was a wonderful cook and took great pride in her Caesar salad, pork kabobs and toffee tarts. Dorothy liked to work on crafts and spent many hours with friends shopping for just the right supplies to finish her projects. She is survived by her husband Blair; daughters, Teresa Bastian, her partner Tom Wolfe, and Teresas children, Andrew and Megan; Christine Dubyts and husband Allan and their children, Morgan and Alexander; and daughter Yvonne Bastian. Dorothy is also survived by her sister Daisy Adams and husband Wayne; her sisters, Ruth Gareau and Kathy Mann; and her brother John Mann and wife Connie; and by her mother-in-law Marie Bastian; as well as numerous sisters and brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Thomas and Sophie Mann; her father-in-law Ted Bastian; and by her brother-in-law Gordon Gareau. Funeral service was held at the Oak Lake United Church on Monday, December 3, with Pam Dean officiating. Donations in memory of Dorothy may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Brandon, B - 920 - 6th St., Brandon, MB R7A 3P8. Arrangements were in care of Brockie Donovan, Brandon, 727-0694.
