WILLIAM CHARLES (BILL) NEVILLE William Charles (Bill) Neville passed away peacefully, with his family at his side, at Victoria General Hospital on Saturday, December 15, 2001. Bill was born in Winnipeg on August 26, 1916, the son of William Wymark Neville and Ethel Hoffman, both of whom predeceased him. Bills memory will be cherished by Alice, his loving wife of 53 years; and by his three sons: William (Bill) and his daughters, Sarah, Elissa and Jessica; Wayne (Heather), Barry (Marg) and their daughters, Jessica and Sarah; and cousin Merle (Joe) Cote. Bill lived in Winnipeg all his life except for time spent overseas during the Second World War. He began working with Salisbury House in 1934 and worked there - in virtually every capacity - until his retirement in 1981. Like his father before him, he was an avid sportsman for most of his life, curling, bowling, and playing baseball as a youth and in the Army. In his 50s he became a fine golfer and the Niakwa Country Club became the scene of many happy memories. In later years he was an enthusiastic birdwatcher and gardener who propagated geraniums that were the pride of his neighbourhood. Bill was a fine dancer, a singer of comic songs and a teller of tales. Family came to be one of the great joys of Bills existence. He and Alice were completely devoted one to the other, and their marriage was, unquestionably, one of the great romances. He took pride in the achievements of his three sons. He embraced Heather and Marg as daughters; and the younger Jessica and Sarah will fondly remember all the good times at Papas house. Quiet, thoughtful, and modest, Bill possessed a fine sense of humour and a keen sense of honour. He was gentle, kind, and had a clear and abiding sense of values in which truthfulness and integrity were central. Bill was a good and decent man and will be missed by all who knew him. The family wishes to express its deep appreciation to the staff of the Victoria General Hospital who cared for Bill with such kindness and concern during his last days. Cremation has taken place. If friends so desire, they should feel free to donate to a charity of their choice. Those we love dont go away, They walk beside us everyday, Unseen, unheard, but always near, Still loved, still missed and very dear.
