PATRICIA ALICE CROSS (nee CONNOLLY) On December 15, 2001, after a lengthy illness, Patricia slipped peacefully into the arms of God, surrounded by her loving husband and children. Patricia was born on January 21, 1936 in Montreal. In 1951 she moved with her family to Winnipeg. There she met her beloved Alex, and they were married on October 16, 1954. Patricia is survived by her husband Alex, and their children, Doug (Germanie), and their children, Stuart, Michael, Patrick, and Kathleen; Arlene and her children, Amy and Cameron; Rob (Dianne) and their children, Danny, Chris, Andrew, Maria, and Joey; Heather (Troy) and their children, Scott and Amber-Lynne. She is survived by her brothers, Bernie (Mary) Connolly, Len (Jill) Connolly, and Ron (Vera DiSanto) Connolly; and former sister-in-law Eldora Connolly; and by Alexs sisters, Ann (Wally) Hilash, and Heather Peters; and numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Lily Connolly; Alexs parents, Alex and Alice Cross; her grandson Matthew Cross; her brother-in-law John Peters, and her nephew Terry Connolly. Pat loved people and was active in her community. She was Peoples Warden at St. Judes Anglican Parish in Grand Marais. She was the current President of the Grand Marais and District Senior Citizens Club, and was also a member of the Eastern Beaches Seniors Scene, where she sang in the Songsters Choir and enjoyed the monthly dinner dances. We shall all treasure our memories of the open heart with which she welcomed us, of camping, and of the wonderful feasts we shared. She was a prolific knitter - all of her family and many of her friends use her knitted afghans and slippers, she knit hundreds of sets of mitts, scarves and toques which she donated for those who needed them to stay warm. She also enjoyed ceramics, and left behind many beautiful pieces for us to enjoy. Pat was a fighter and overcame many difficult health problems over the years - cheerfully and without complaint. There are too many health care workers, doctors, and nurses who helped with Pats care over the years to name individually: know that we thank you all so very much for the care and comfort you provided, however there is an especially grateful place in our hearts for the staff of the Palliative Care Unit in Selkirk. Cremation has taken place. A memorial celebration will be held at Glen Eden Chapel, 4477 Main St., on Tuesday, December 18 at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Fraser Hunter will conduct the service. Long time friends, Barry and Alexis Anderson will be the organist and soloist. No flowers please. Donations in Pats memory can be made to the Palliative Care Unit, in care of the Selkirk and General Hospital, 100 Easton Dr., Selkirk, MB. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN EDEN FUNERAL HOME 4477 MAIN ST. 338-7111
