DINORAH TORAL It is with very great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother on December 15, 2001 at St. Boniface Hospital, after nine weeks of battling hip surgery, heart attacks and strokes. Mourning this great loss are her daughters, Mercedes and Elizabeth Toral and Connie (Ken) Dawson; grandsons, Hal and Steve (Lisa) Dawson; and great-grandchildren, Samantha, Mark and Deanna. Born in Gijon, Asturias, Spain, mother immigrated to Winnipeg in 1944 with her late husband Belarmino and her two oldest daughters. In addition to being a working mother she worked tirelessly all her life with the International Centre, Folklorama, the Latin American Institute and her beloved Spanish Club. But she is best remembered for her personal hospitality, counsel and support enjoyed by literally hundreds of immigrants from Spain and Latin America. Her home was always open to her compatriots and their families and friends, to the point that it became their "home away from home". Our mothers passing leaves the whole family with a deep void and extreme sadness. We will miss her always. She was a loving and caring mother who lived life to the fullest. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of her life and they will miss her terribly. We extend heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses and orderlies of 4ECU, 2ICM and 5B at St. Boniface Hospital for their exceptional devotion to the care and comfort of our mother. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 19 in Westminster United Church (Westminster at Maryland). Interment will follow in Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Boniface Hospital Research Foundation. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
