MARIA TOEWS (REMPEL)

MARIA TOEWS (nee REMPEL) Maria passed away to be with her Lord and Saviour on December 16, 2001 at Donwood Manor Personal Care Home at the age of 80 years. She is survived by her children, John (Linda), Garry (Evelyn), Bill (Margaret) and Alvin; as well as her grandchildren, Dean (Chantel), Kevin, Shannon, Stacey, Amber, Kezia, Mila, Rob and Greg. Also left to mourn are her siblings, John (Mary) Rempel, Helen (Abe) Dyck, Ann (Alex) Lehnert, Bill (Jessie) Rempel and Katie Jordanov; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband John and daughter Betty. Maria was born in the Ukraine and with her husband immigrated to Canada in 1948. They resided in Winkler, MB until 1958, when they moved to North Kildonan in Winnipeg. Maria was very active in the North Kildonan Mennonite Church. She enjoyed people and always took time to spend with her friends and her family. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 20 at 1:00 p.m. at North Kildonan Mennonite Church, 1131 Roch St. at Cheriton Avenue. Interment will take place in Elmwood Cemetery. Viewing prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mennonite Central Committee, or to a charity of ones choice. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Donwood Personal Care Home. Arrangements entrusted to Klassen Funeral Chapel, 338-0331.
