JAMES H. BOOKER It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of James H. Booker at the St. Norbert Nursing Home on Saturday, December 15, 2001. James is survived by his wife of 58 years, Violet; son Ralph (Lynne) of Winnipeg; daughter Mavis Booker (Bill Barclay) of Edmonton; grand-children, Dr. Brent Booker of Buffalo, NY and Lisa Booker of Winnipeg; and cousin Lawrence Wesley of Winnipeg. He was predeceased by his father 1943 and mother 1984. James was born to Millie and James Booker and grew up in Fort Rouge living on Bartlet Avenue and Jubilee Avenue, attending Lord Roberts and Kelvin High School. His career with the CNR spanned 43 years before his retirement in 1980. He held many positions at CN that took him to live in, aside from Winnipeg to Montreal, Moncton and Edmonton. Dad was a perfectionist who provided a wealth of knowledge and guidance throughout his life. He was a very influential person in all of our lives and he supported all of his children and grandchildren in our careers and our many endeavours. James enjoyed his many summers at Malachi, ON, until poor health prevented him from going. He had a love of music and enjoyed playing music and listening to his music collection. James very much enjoyed photography as being a member of the Winnipeg Photography Club was a testament to that. During his final days Dad never lost his sense of humour and even though he struggled through his years of poor health he never stopped reminding his family of how much he loved them and how much they meant to him. A private family service will be held for James with cremation to follow and interment at a later date. The family wishes to thank all of the staff of St. Norbert Nursing Home especially for the care and attention they gave to him during his final days. He sends hugs and kisses to all the staff. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to The Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent Rd., Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3 or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2H8. Rest in Peace THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
