Frank was born in Cromer, England in 1917 while his father was on active service during the First World War. His mother had gone to England to be with her husband until he left for the front. At three months of age Frank came to Canada with his mother and older brother Charlie. After the First World War the family moved to Winnipeg where his father was engaged in the fur trade. Frank grew up on Luxton Street attended St. Johns Tech and St. Johns College where he received his B.A. and his teaching certificate in 1939. He married Joanna Skaptason in September of 1939 and taught in Swan River and St. James until he enlisted in the R.C.A.F. in 1942. After the war he completed a masters program in languages and returned to the R.C.A.F. as an Education Officer serving at various bases. Frank had several passions but none was greater than his love for his wife and family. He thoroughly enjoyed playing bridge with friends and for the past 20 years was a bridge mentor and teacher. As a fundraiser for the University Womens Club Frank taught bridge to a very keen group for many years. His goal was to have women gain confidence and obtain more pleasure at the bridge table. Frank and Jo have been blessed to have had 62 years of marriage. After they were both retired they took several trips to Europe, Iceland, U.S., and for 12 years they annually enjoyed a Hawaii vacation. In 1978, they travelled by ship to New Zealand and Australia.
