JOHN BALIANT Suddenly on Monday, December 17, 2001, at his residence, John passed away at the age of 70. John was born and raised in Meleb, MB. In 1965, after several years of employment in Winnipeg, he returned to Meleb where he raised cattle until his retirement. John was also a councillor for the District of Armstrong for several years. Friends and neighbours knew they could always count on him to lend a helping hand. He had a great love of children, animals and nature. John was predeceased by his parents Frank and Barbara; brother Albin; nephew John; brother-in-law Frank; and sister-in-law Elsie. He is survived by his sisters, Mary (Ed), Ann and Jean; his brother Bert; and numerous nieces and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Wes Kennedy, Bill Bahrey, Joe Stoyanowski and other close friends. Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 21 at 11:30 a.m. at the Arborg (MacKenzie) Funeral Chapel, Arborg, MB. Rev. Fr. A. Seaman will officiate with interment to follow at Meleb Cemetery. Arborg (MacKenzie) Funeral Home in care of the arrangements.
