Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGORDON WALLACE BARKER April 23, 1911 - December 17, 2001 With deep sorrow the family announces the passing of Gordon Wallace on December 17, 2001 at Oakview Place Nursing Home, at the age of 90. Gordon will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years Ruby; his son Jerald; grandchildren, Alison, Jeffrey, Krista and Shannon and his brother Lyle (Doris). Gordon was predeceased by his daughter Karen, his parents and one sister Eileen. Gordon was born in Winnipeg and attended Laura Secord school. He worked with his father at Barkers Meats and Grocery on Portage Avenue for many years. In late 1945 the business was sold and he went to work at City Meats until he retired. Gordon was a quiet man who was happy with his family around him. He liked doing repairs on his car and fixing up around the house. He enjoyed travelling with his wife and spent many happy days at his summer cottage at Ingolf, ON. The family would like to express deep appreciation to Dr. S. Mould and the staff of 2E Oakview Place Nursing Home for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB, R3C 2B7 or the Arthritics Society, 105-386 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 3R6. According to Gordons wishes no funeral service will be held. A gathering of friends will be held on Friday, December 21 at 2:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
