WILFRED EARL (SCOTTY) DENBOW Scotty passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2001 at the Souris Health Centre with his family at his side. Scott was born July 30, 1916, the third of 12 children. He received his education at Deleau School. He helped at home on the farm and worked for other farmers in the district until he and his brother, Harold, began farming together in 1937. Scott served in the Armed Forces in Canada and overseas from 1942 to 1945. August 2, 1947 Scotty married Rita Bertholet and with this union nine children were born. In their fifty-four years of marriage, they were active followers of their children and grandchildrens many activities. Scotty was known far and wide for his "bragging" of his families accomplishments. His special interest was "ball", especially the Souris Blues where he enjoyed coaching and umpiring from the side lines. He always made his opinion known! Scotty loved working on his farm raising livestock and grain. Even after semiretirement in 1983, Dad would be seen making the daily trip out to the farm. Scotty enjoyed visiting, telling stories and playing cribbage with family and friends. Dad liked to work hard and play hard! He enjoyed life to the fullest. Scotty was predeceased by infant son Wayne; parents, John and Lydia (Jenny) Denbow; five brothers and one sister; and many close relatives. Scottys passing will be deeply felt by his lifelong love Rita and eight children. Sons, David Denbow, Ken (Sheryl) Denbow, Cam (Wendy) Denbow; daughters, Karen (Gary) McDowell, Wilma (Greg) Morrison, Nina (Bill) Cowan, Tracy (Wes) Phillips, and Rhonda Denbow; grandchildren, Curtis (Shannon) Denbow, Carrie and Christina Denbow, Darrel (Mina) McDowell, Shelly (Jeremy) Hoerer (McDowell), Blake and Karissa Denbow, Amy, Troy and Erin Morrison, Nick, Jenna and Del Cowan, Brendan, Brittaney and Riley Phillips; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Rueben (Vivian), Lloyd, Ross (Vivian), Carman; sister Isabel Boorman; brothers-in-law, Jules (Celina) Bertholet, Marc (Edith) Bertholet; sisters-in-law, Buddy Denbow, Florence Denbow, Marie Charles Druwe, Anne Marie (Arthur) Bauche, Mary Bertholet, Marie Bertholet. As well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins who have fond memories of Scotty. Funeral services were held in Souris on December 7, with Rev. John Oldenkamp officiating. Pallbearers: grandsons Darrel McDowell, Curtis Denbow, Blake Denbow, Nick Cowan, Brendan Phillips, Troy Morrison. All those attending were considered to be honorary pallbearers. Our familys loss is great as one of his grandchildren expressed: Grandpa I wanted to write you the perfect letter, One to keep and cherish forever. But I could not think of what to say, so that youd want to read this every day. Ill always keep my memories of you, everyday Ill think of you. Ill keep you in my mind and in my heart long after we forever part. Ill miss you more than you will ever know. More than ever in this time of woe. You are gone, you now lie still. I love you Grandpa and I always will.
