ROY WALLACE GUSTAFSON On Wednesday, December 19, 2001 at Rock Lake Hospital in Crystal City, MB, Roy passed away at the age of 85 years. Roy was predeceased by his first wife Natalie in 1988; his parents, John and Anne; brothers, Walter, Ralph and Erik; and a sister Thelma. Born July 16, 1916 Roy is survived by his partner Sue, son Randy (Monique), son Donald (Katrina), daughter Laura (Joe Robichaud), and son Roger (Yvonne) grandchildren, Erik, Kevin, Cherie (Jamie Pellerin), John, Trisha, Matthew, Lukas, and Nicole; great-grandchildren, Kayla, Sheldon, and Kiara. He is also survived by sisters, Ruth and Margaret; sisters-in-law, Lydia and Olga; brother-in-law Tony (Ann) and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Roy followed his fathers footsteps and joined Canadian Pacific Railway in April of 1936. He worked and lived in various communities in southern Manitoba; first as a trackman and later as a section foreman and extra gang foreman. Roy retired from CPR in December of 1976. Roy joined the Army in March 1941 and was sent overseas in December 1941. He returned to Shilo in 1944 and served as a gunnery instructor until his discharge in 1946. He met his future wife Natelie at Shilo and they married in May 1946. Roy had a passion for sports and during his lifetime participated in baseball, hockey, curling, hunting, and fishing. Later on he took up golf which became his passion. After Natelie passed away in April of 1988, he started travelling, visiting both coasts and Arizona on numerous occasions. He met Sue Vandamme while golfing in September of 1996 and they became constant companions sharing in interest in golfing and curling. Funeral service will be held from Pilot Mound United Church on Saturday, December 29 at 11:00 a.m. Friends if they desire may donate in his memory to the Pilot Mound Millennium Rec Complex.
