CONSTABLE DENNIS STRONGQUILL It is with deep sadness and tremendous sorrow that we the family announce the sudden death of Constable Dennis Strongquill, aged 52 years, on December 21 in Russell, MB. He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Teresa Strongquill and Gary Berthelette, Joey Strongquill and wife Christine and Ricky Strongquill and their mother Collette Aubin as well as Donna Strongquill and her children, Rachel and Raven and Mandy Delorande and her daughter Korie. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Mercedes, McKenzie, Memphis and Myranda. Dennis also leaves sisters and brothers, Mariah Diamond, George Crane, Harold Brass, Robert Brass, Barbara Woolford (Ken), Ruby Anne Brass and Ronnie Brass (Ida) as well as numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Dennis was a proud man and it was this pride that saw him serve in communities throughout Manitoba. He began as an Auxiliary Constable in Barrows, MB and later began his 20 years of service with the RCMP. His first posting was Churchill and later transferred to Powerview where he served the communities of Sagkeeng First Nations, Little Black River, Hollow Water and Seymourville. His duties then took him to Amaranth where he served Sandy Bay First Nation before being transferred to Rossburn and finally to a new detachment Waywayseecappo Reserve. Although being an RCMP Officer kept him away many nights he always tried to spend time with his children. He loved to watch the Montreal Canadians play whenever he could. Friends may pay their respects on Wednesday, December 26 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the Notre Dame du Laus Roman Catholic Church, Powerview, MB. Liturgy of the Word will be on Thursday, December 27 at 2:00 p.m., also from the Notre Dame du Laus Church, with Fr. James Gray officiating. Services will terminate at the Church. Wake services will be held on Friday, December 28 at 8:00 p.m. at the Barrow Community Center, Barrows, MB. Committal services will take place in the Barrows Cemetery on Saturday, December 29. If friends so desire, donations may be made in memory of Constable Dennis Strongquill to the Strongquill Benefit Trust at any Royal Bank location.
