WILLIAM (BILL) DROHOMERESKI Peacefully on December 23, 2001 at his home, William passed on to the Lord. Left to mourn Bills passing is his loving, devoted wife of 65 years, Olga (Chreptyk) daughter Evangeline Anderson; son Richard (Gail) Dromereski; daughter-in-law Ellen Drohomereski; his grandchildren, Krystal (Kristjan) Isfeld, Debbie (Brad) Wood, Darlene (Dale) Nelson, Grant (Debby) Anderson, Lyle (Sharon) Anderson; 11 great-grandchildren; his sister Phyllis Chudy and numerous nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his parents, Paraska and Nykola; son Murray; son-in-law Alexander; great-grandson Adam; and his sisters, Mary, Dorothy, Rose, Anne, Isabel and Nettie. William was born on December 5, 1914 to Paraska and Nykola at Pleasant Home, MB. He was the only boy and the youngest of eight children. Bill was raised on the family farm. In 1933, Bill met Olga and on November 1, 1936 they became husband and wife. They had three children, Evangeline, Richard and Murray. Together they continued to farm the Drohomereski homestead until 1947 when they moved to the town of Winnipeg Beach. Bill operated a riding stable for the first couple of years at the Beach. In 1949, Bill and Olga opened Williams Snack Bar. They were famous for their french fries! In 1960, the Snack Bar closed down and from 1965 to 1968, Bill was a commissionaire for the town. In the fall of 1973, they moved from their place in town to their current home they built in the RM of St. Andrews, just outside the town limits. In his retirement, Bill enjoyed gardening and his flowers, supervising Olgas cooking and spending time with family and friends. Bill will always be remembered for the many songs he sang at weddings, his famous storytelling and the love for this family. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Gimli, on Friday, December 28 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow in the Winnipeg Beach Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. A memorial donation may be made to the Johnson Memorial Hospital Building Fund in Gimli, MB. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, MB in care of arrangements.
