ERIC OLOV ANGANTYR ERICSON Peacefully on December 24, at the Golden Door Geriatric Center, Eric Ericson, aged 97 years passed quietly away. Eric is survived by his wife Borghild of 68 years; his son Lorne (Arlene) granddaughter, Sandra DeMarco (Terry) great-granddaughters, Jordyn and Rylyn. Eric was born in Os, Sweden on September 1, 1904. Erics love for the outdoors gave him numerous hours of pleasure skiing and ski jumping where he became a club champion his home community in Sweden many times over. Of this accomplishment he was very proud. He immigrated to Canada from his beloved homeland in 1927 working in Port Nelson for two years for the Department of Railways & Canals. Upon his return to Winnipeg he met and later married the love of his life, Borghild Sorflaten, who was a hairdresser. Eric took a hairdressing course and on completion together they opened their own beauty salon on Corydon Avenue where they both worked until they retired in 1955. Erics continued love for the outdoors gave him many fond memories of times spent with his family and friends at their cottage at West Hawk Lake. Here he enjoyed fishing, walking, gardening and sometimes just "puttering" or doing what he thought needed to be done. The family wishes to give a special thanks to all the staff at the Golden Door Geriatric Center for all their kindness, care and compassion that was given to Eric during his stay there, and especially in the last few weeks of his life. Also a special thank you to Gladys Laird, his walking companion who spent many hours taking him for his walks and being a "friend". A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 28 at 10:00 a.m. at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave. (entrance on Aubrey Street) with the Reverend Pat Wotton officiating.
