ABRAHAM MILTON KROCKER Peacefully, in his sleep, while visiting his oldest son David and his family in Calgary, Abraham Milton (Milt) passed away on December 23, 2001. He leaves to forever cherish his memory and mourn his passing, his loving wife of 57 years, Milly (nee Cohen, of England; his four children, David (Nettie) (Calgary), Pat Clapham (Winnipeg), Miles (Surrey, BC), Don (Debby) (Winnipeg) grandchildren/great-grandchildren, Cheri (Ian) Llewellyn/Kerrin and Jena (of Calgary), Davey (Corinna) Krocker/Lexi and Reyna (of Red Deer), Geoff Krocker/and Kole (of Calgary), Brad and Kyle Clapham (living in Dallas, Texas) and Rory and Darcy Krocker (of Winnipeg). Milton was predeceased by his father Cornelius Kroeker (born Aug. 8, 1869; immigrated to Altona with the 1875 Mennonite Immigrants, farmed and died in 1941 in Lowe Farm, MB) and mother Maria (nee Dueck, born 1869, also immigrated in 1875 to Altona, died 1936 in Lowe Farm) and also predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Aganetha (Pete) Banman, Sarah (Peter) Klassen, Cornelius (Eva Giesbrecht), Maria (Isbrand) Unrau, Jacob (Susanna Enns), Peter (Katherine Unrau), David (1908 to 1910), Katherine (born and died 1910), Katherine (Tina) (John) Guenther. He is survived by his sister Agatha (John) Enns of Steinbach, and Bernhard (Josephine) of Orillia, ON. Milton was born in Lowe Farm in 1915. He worked the farm land with his father, Cornelius until his passing in 1941. Milton then worked and lived with a wonderful family, Don and Laura McLaren, in Roland, MB until he enlisted in the Canadian Army, where he was assigned to serve in Cambridge, England. He met and married his beloved Mildred while on leave in Reading, England in 1944. Milton shipped back to Canada in 1946 and Milly followed with little David and the other "war brides" on the Queen Mary. They settled in Carman, MB and moved into Winnipeg just after Pats birth in 1947. They lived on Elgin Avenue, where Miles was born, then Rosedale Avenue where Donny was born, and in 1963 they settled in their home on Somerville Avenue. Milton spent the whole of his career with the Canadian Army, going overseas with the Ft. Garry Horse Regiment and later in the Ft. Garry Horse Reserve until his retirement. He made many good and loyal friends. Milt and Milly spent many happy times with their army friends and enjoyed many of the "Mess" dances over the years. Milt was the nucleus of his family, instilling in them values of honesty, integrity, loyalty and a deep sense of right and wrong. He was a proud, loyal and ever loving husband and a well respected and admired father. He was always a gentleman, courteous and obliging and always kept his word. He was happy to help anyone he could. He was a man of deep conviction and saw the humorous side of everything. Milton was well liked and loved by all that knew him. He worked hard and tirelessly all of his life and had a great independence and unending strength. He placed others before himself in everything he did. Milly his wife was the center and great love of his life. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 29 at 3:00 p.m. in Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Rest in peace beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. Your memory will live on in our lives forever.
