PEARL RUTH McCREANOR 1916 - 2001 Peacefully on Sunday, December 23, Ruth passed away at the Victoria Hospital, with her beloved family at her side. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 60 years, Dennis; their two daughters, Maureen (Ross) Gage, Muriel (Richard) Fast; son, John (Debra) grandchildren, Shannon (Paul) Atkinson, James Gage (and friend April), Krystal, Jacqueline, and Michael McCreanor and Graham Fast; sister-in-law Winifred Whitfield; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Her parents, Thomas and Pearl Whitfield; sisters, Audrey Whitfield, Muriel Bowie, and Evelyn Strobel; brothers, Jack and Everett Whitfield predeceased her. Ruth was born in Morden, MB in 1916. She was a direct descendant of the early pioneers in the Morden area. Ruth and Dennis were married in September 1941. She was a volunteer for the Salvation Army as well as a member of the Ladies Guild of Rosedale United Church. Ruth loved to travel with Dennis and they took many overseas trips together. They became Snowbirds, spending over 25 years in Largo, FL, where she was a member of the Villas de Golf Womens Association. Ruth was an ardent Bridge player and spent many joyful hours playing, or should we say winning, the game. Her summers were spent with her family at their cottage at Falcon Lake, enjoying the many pleasures that the Lake brings. Ruth was a very loving, devoted and loyal wife, mother and grandmother. A reception for family and friends will be held on Friday, December 28 at 2:00 p.m. in the Heritage Room at Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Highway 1 East at Green Acres Lane. Interment will follow in the spring at St. Vital Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorial donations may be made in Ruths name to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Manitoba Branch, 200-55 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 1L8 or a charity of ones choice. "She will be dearly missed by all of us but her love will remain in our hearts forever." GREEN ACRES FUNERAL CHAPEL 222-3241
