IVAN WHITE Peacefully, after a lengthy illness, Ivan White passed away on Christmas Day, Tuesday, December 25, 2001 at Deer Lodge Centre in Winnipeg, at the age of 79 years. Ivan was born on July 24, 1922 in Langford, MB, and spent his childhood in Arden, MB. He was a veteran of the South Saskatchewan Regiment in the Second World War and was wounded on his 21st birthday and spent three years in hospitals, one of which was Deer Lodge where he met Thelma Swanson. He married her on August 22, 1947 and continued to reside in Winnipeg until 1963 when they moved to Lundar, MB to take up Ivans passion for farming. They farmed until 1979 at which time, due to Ivans failing health, they moved their family to Portage la Prairie, MB where they continued to reside until 1998. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and the Oddfellows Lodge. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Thelma, of 54 years of marriage; son Bruce; grandson Allen, all of Winnipeg; daughter Bonnie (Paul) of Portage la Prairie; sisters, Lena White and Ettie Neilands of Neepawa. Ivan will also be greatly missed by sisters-in-law, Edith (Mike) Kutcy, Nancy Swanson; brother-in-law Eric (Marlene) Swanson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Ivan was predeceased by his parents, John and Hannah White; only brother Ernest (Ernie) sisters, Pearl Ranson, Vhelma (Vie) Harwood and Thelma (Bobbie) White; brothers-in-law, John (Jack) Ranson, Bill Neilands, Stan Harwood, Arthur Swanson; and sister-in-law Lorraine White; nephews, Vern White, Barry Neilands, Doug Neilands; and great-nephew Rodney Neilands.
