PERE CHAMPLAIN DESHAYES, o.m.i. 1916-2001 Paisiblement, a la residence Casa Bonita, a Saint-Boniface, est decede le Pere Champlain Deshayes, o.m.i., le 26 decembre 2001 a lage de 85 ans. En plus de sa famille religieuse, les Oblats de Marie Immaculee, il laisse dans le deuil sa soeur Jeanne dArc Deshayes, sa soeur Madeleine Taillon (Rodrigue) ainsi que 29 neveux et nieces et plus de 60 arriere-neveux et arriere-nieces. Champlain Deshayes est ne a Fenwood, SK, le 29 janvier 1916, fils de Jean Deshayes et de Christine Boisvert. Le 14 aout 1936 il prit lhabit chez les Oblats de Marie Immaculee a St-Laurent, MB et a ete ordonne pretre le 29 juin 1942 a Lebret, SK. De 1943 a 1991, le Pere Deshayes a exerce son ministere en Saskatchewan et au Manitoba. Il a ete professeur, econome, directeur de la maison provinciale, superieur de District et tresorier local. En 1959, il etait en charge de la nouvelle construction de la Maison de Retraites fermees a St-Norbert, MB. En decembre 1991, il prit sa retraite a la Casa Bonita. Les Oblats de la province du Manitoba ainsi que la famille Deshayes desirent exprimer leur sincere reconnaissance envers les membres du personnel de la Casa Bonita qui ont su entourer le Pere Champlain Deshayes de leurs soins et de leur affection. La messe de la resurrection sera celebree a ledifice Le Manoir, Salle 203, 474 rue Aulneau, Saint-Boniface le samedi, 29 decembre a 14h. La depouille mortelle sera exposee a partir de 13h30. Linhumation suivra au cimetiere de Saint-Boniface. FATHER CHAMPLAIN DESHAYES, o.m.i. 1916-2001 Peacefully, at the Oblate Residence Casa Bonita in St. Boniface, MB, Father Champlain Deshayes, o.m.i., died on December 26, 2001. He was 85 years old. Besides his Oblate family, he leaves to mourn his sisters, Jeanne dArc Deshayes and Madeleine Taillon (Rodrigue) as well as 29 nieces and nephews and more than 60 great-nieces and great-nephews. Born on January 29, 1916 in Fenwood, SK, Champlain Deshayes entered the Oblates of Mary Immaculate in St. Laurent, MB in 1936 and was ordained to the priesthood on June 29, 1942 in Lebret, SK. Father Champlain Deshayes was a professor, treasurer, director and superior of the District at Casa Bonita. He performed his ministry in Saskatchewan and Manitoba. In 1959, he was in charge of the new construction of the Retreat House in St. Norbert, MB. The Deshayes family and the Oblates wish to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Casa Bonita for their care and affection for Father Champlain Deshayes during the time he spent at the Casa. A funeral mass for Father Champlain Deshayes, o.m.i., will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 29 at Le Manoir, 474 Aulneau St., St. Boniface, Room 203, with viewing beginning at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow in the St. Boniface Cemetery.
